Description
Älmås ash forest is a small nature reserve protected for its unique deciduous forest dominated by ash. Well worth a visit for the generally interested and a gold mine for the specially interested botanist. The nature reserve contains no hiking trails but is quite challenging to get through as the ground is covered with waist-high herbs and plenty of fallen trees and it is also steep. However, you don't have to go far to enjoy the reserve's high natural values. The reserve includes a hollow giant ash tree. There are also large hollow trees of lime. In addition to ash and lime, there are also elm, alder, spruce, birch, aspen, oak, pine, willow, rowan, oxel and cherry in the area.
