STF Skarvruets Mountain station Tänndalen

Tänndalen offers some of the best odds for snow in Sweden, with a ski season that runs from October through to May, making it a paradise for cross-country skiers. There are marked trails that are possibly the best in the world just around the corner and the World Cup is held annually in Bruksvallarna a few dozen kilometres away, where the elite athletes train.

Many skiers, hikers, nature lovers and hunters have visited Skarvruet over the years. The very first guests arrived in the 1940s, and the history of mountain tourism is in the air. Skarvruet offers accommodation in double bedrooms and dormitories, while its restaurant serves a delicious 3-course meal every day, using the finest local ingredients.

A visit to world heritage listed Röros, a picturesque 16th-century village on the other side of the Norwegian border, is well worth a visit. Downhill skiers are spoilt for choice as the slopes of Tänndalen, Funäsdalen and Ramundberget are all within reach.
