Description

Already in 1897, the first cabin was built here to make the ascent of the peak easier – a 750-meter climb. Today, both skiers and hikers are drawn here by the dramatic nature, challenging tours, and our welcoming mountain station with delicious food, sauna, and a shop.

Despite the high elevation, summers here are surprisingly rich in blooming flora. Perhaps that’s why the arctic fox thrives – Helags is one of the strongest strongholds for this endangered species in Sweden.

We offer cozy four-bed rooms in our two guest cabins, Sunnan and Nordan – with dog-friendly rooms available in Nordan. For those who prefer simpler travel, there are shared rooms with four or eight beds.

If you’re looking for a more rustic and authentic stay, we recommend Gamla Östan – our wood-heated cabin with one five-bed room and one nine-bed room, offering a charming mountain atmosphere.

During the season, we serve breakfast buffet, lunch, and dinner every day. Enjoy a warming soup or crispy waffles for lunch and end the day with a dinner made from local ingredients – such as Arctic char or reindeer. Of course, we also offer home-baked fika for those just stopping by.

In our shop you’ll find sweets, snacks, simple self-catering meals, hygiene products, STF merchandise, and basic sports equipment. We also rent out tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, and thermoses. Pre-booking is recommended – contact us at helags@stfturist.se to check availability.

A warm welcome to STF Helags Mountain Station.
