Description
The tour starts along the old tractor road. At the crossroads, turn left and follow the road to Särvvålvallen. Fäbodvallen has private plots with cottages so remember to show consideration! At the top of the embankment, the trail continues towards Högrensvålvallen.
The trail is very easy to walk and initially goes through old spruce forest before the terrain opens up in mountain birch forest and marshes. Once at Högrensvålvallen, keep left and follow the tractor road over Lillvålen back down towards the forest road at Skärkån. Up on Lillvålen you have a wonderful view of Helags in the west, Lunndörrsfjällen in the north and Storsjö village down in the valley.
The mountains are a cultural landscape and reindeer herding takes place in several places. Four samebys operate in Berg municipality. Visitor pressure in the mountains is increasing and with it the risk of impact on reindeer husbandry. As a visitor to the mountains, it is important that you show consideration and know how you should act where reindeer herding takes place.
Keep this in mind when you are in the mountains:
- Always leave the reindeer alone. If you come across reindeer, take a wide detour around or sit down quietly and wait for them to pass.
- Keep your dog on a leash where there are reindeer. A loose dog can cause great disturbance and harm to the reindeer and reindeer herding work.
- Follow marked trails.
- Avoid disturbing reindeer at snow camps, they stay there to protect themselves from heat and troublesome insects.
- Avoid camping in lush valleys.
- Cycle on roads and paths intended for cycling.
