Description
Here you can walk among spruces and pines that are over 150 years old. The oldest trees are pines that have survived one or more forest fires. These survivors are over 200 years old. Pine trees that survive a forest fire often have traces of the fire in the bark of the trunk. Deep down the trunk, it gets so hot that the bark burns up and falls off. The wood is exposed and you can see it as a gap in the bark. This kind of damage is called fire blight. If you find one of the two smaller wetlands with a lot of lime in it, you can find mosses and plants with interesting names such as scorpion moss, axagus, bluebell and wiregrass.

Follow road E14 west from Östersund. Turn right towards Övre Dvärsätt after about 15 kilometers. Follow the new road for about a kilometer and then turn right. After about 4.5 kilometers you will arrive at the nature reserve.
