Here is a section for those who want to discover untrodden ground. It's a difficult stretch with no known paths and trails, where you also have to go into Norway to get around Kvarnbergsvattnet. Feel free to pass through the forest on Storhögen, just north of Björkvattnet, which in part has very high natural values documented by the non-profit forest inventory week "Research trip in the outskirts of nature conservation" 2018.
Accommodation at Jormlien's mountain farm can be recommended when the destination is reached. As well as a trip up to Frostviken's finest flower mountain - Raudek.

In 2018, the non-profit forest inventory week "Forskningsresan i naturvårdens utmarker" visited the area around Björkvattnet and found very high natural values in the high-altitude spruce forests. In a letter to the Jämtland County Administrative Board (2019-08-21), the research trip requested that these should be protected in three nature reserves, or as a coherent one: Portfjället-Sortmyren-Björkvattsån-Björkvattsruet (4355 hectares), Storhögen (231 hectares) and Högsätern (400 hectares).
