Description
Här kan du vandra omkring på botten av en utdikad sjö. Botten består av mycket kalk som i juli blommar av orkidéer och andra kalkälskande växter.
Botanister besöker Acksjön regelbundet för att titta på den säregna floran. Mitt ute i den hårda kalksanden bryter några härdiga växter fram. Du kan bland annat få se orkidéer som flugblomster, blodnyckel och tvåblad, men också den jämtländska maskrosen.
I kanterna, lite mer skuggigt, växer guckuskor gruppvis. De blommar tidigare än de andra växterna.

Directions
The route description starts from Östersund. Follow road signs towards Rödön. Drive over Rödöbron and then turn right after about 900 meters. After a couple of hundred meters you will reach a turning area and the nature reserve entrance.
Regulations
Welcome to Acksjön. Please note that within the reserve it is not allowed to:
- pick and collect species of various kinds, with the exception of berries and edible mushrooms,
- climbing trees, staying near a bird of prey's nest, lair or pot, collecting animals or otherwise deliberately damaging or disturbing wildlife,
- damaging the ground, boulders, vegetation, dry trees or other dead wood
- make fires
- drive a motorized vehicle off-road.

A really unique nature experience! Great walk with kids, no complaints from the 7 or 2 year old. Got sight of a deer as well.
