Description
Our homestead Snogge is located near Frillesås church. The farm is very old, one of the oldest documented in the parish. For a few centuries, Snogge was a manor house, about one acre, owned by various noble families, including von Döbeln and Eriksson (Vasa). The farm is mentioned in 1529, when Gustav Vasa sold it on behalf of the family to the courtier at Varberg Castle. From the 18th century we know of the tenant farmers who for generations lived in Snogge and used three farms there. At the end of the 18th century, the farms were bought from Åsklosters kungsgård, which then owned the entire homestead. The farms were grouped together as a small village with adjacent cottages and mills, and eventually, at the end of the 19th century, only one farm remained as a result of migration and land takeover.
The above is an extract from an essay written by Lena Greenwood.
