Description
On a headland in Lake Oxhultasjön lie the remains of the Sjöboholm manor, which has its roots in the Middle Ages. In the 15th century and most of the 16th century, it was the main farm for Itzholte County, the Danish Bergslagen region of the time, with rich resources of bog and lake ore. On his way to a meeting with Gustav II Adolf, Christian IV is said to have spent the night at Sjöboholm. The Scanian noblewoman Gertrud Grip bought the farm in 1647 and celebrated her wedding to Göran Galle here two years later. Around 1840 the farm was abandoned, and now only the ruins remain on two islets, each with a moat on the land side. The site is well cared for, and it's easy to find suitable places to spread out your coffee.
