Boende Stora Karlsö

Stora Karlsö is a nature reserve with a rich bird life. Large colonies of guillemots and razorbills nest with thousands of pairs on the island. Other common breeding birds are the eider, blackbird, black-headed gull and herring gull. The island's rich flora includes a number of rare species, such as spring daisy, marsh lettuce, goldenrod and Gotland snowwort. In late May and early June, the orchids Adam and Eve and St. Peter's keys bloom.
