Mallgård källmyr, Naturreservat
- Nature reserve
- County: Gotlands län
Actions
Description
Mallgård källmyr is not only a beautiful and botanically rich spring bog. In summer - during June and July - this is also where you have the best chance of meeting the Gotland rudd grazing on Lojsta haid.
The elongated Mallgård spring marsh gets its water partly from a meandering stream that enters the marsh from the north, and partly from the slope east of the marsh, where groundwater seeps out in several places. Källmyren is located in the southwesternmost part of Lojsta Russpark, in the summer garden, and the bog is strongly influenced by the horses' trampling and grazing. Out on the open mire, tufts of axag and bluebell alternate with almost completely vegetation-free areas of calcareous mud.
In the bog, you can find most of the plant species that are typical of Lojsta haid's spring bogs: marsh lily, mountain herb, mayweed, black hay and brown eye thrush, as well as orchids such as sweet vernal grass and marsh helleborine. During the late summer, the rare plants meadowsweet and meadow gentian also flower here.
