Sellbergsvallen Fäbodvall

Sellbergsvallen is owned by the villages of Gåsbacka and Mora. There are now (written in 1988), 8 cottages left. The common land around the cottages is common to both villages and undivided. On Sellbergsvallen we have tried to preserve the embankment in the same condition it was originally. Many embankments have been divided up, so each co-owner has a part for himself.

The importance of the pastures came from extending the grazing for cattle, cows, horses, sheep and goats and saving the vegetation at the farm for winter fodder.

Products made from the milk on the pasture were butter, cheese and mess butter.

No one knows for sure how old the pasture walls in Delsbo are, but there are maps from the 18th century. The current division was added in the years 1867-1870, according to the last parcel documents.

The importance of the pastures was mainly grazing for the cattle, while the importance of the forest was only firewood and timber for household needs.

The summer of 1956 was the last year that there were cows on the pasture. It was Per Erikssons from Mora "Gretes per", the shepherdess was Ingrid Eriksson from Sättjära "Mickels Ingrid"

The mines that there are remains of were established in the early 1930s by two optimistic old men, Myrsten and Förarn, the silver content was there, but not worth major mining.

The last coal was in 1947 as Sven Johansson had coal miles on the embankment.

The forest road to the embankment was completed in 1959. In 1984 two roads were built, one on Råberget and the other on Nickelåsen.
