Övre Svartsvedåsen, Naturreservat
- Nature reserve
- County: Gävleborgs län
Actions
Description
Svartsvedåsen consists of two nature reserves; Övre and Nedre Svartsvedåsen. The areas are located close to each other in the Svågan valley. Svartsvedåsen is not the easiest area to visit. There are no major roads leading there. Once you are there, it is worth the effort. In between the nature reserves is a small clear-cut that provides a sharp contrast to the old forest. The area is located 18 kilometers northwest of Friggesund and covers 30.1 hectares and 9.5 hectares respectively.
The spruces stand calmly and confidently in the old spruce forest. Dark and perhaps a little dangerous, exciting and mysterious, mosses, lichens and old branches. The leaves of the old aspens rustle uneasily.
The forest is old and has not been managed with modern methods. In nature reserves, there are not only old spruce but also mature aspens and plenty of dead wood. This means dead trees or parts of trees, lying or standing.
Valuable to many
The natural values are high, and there are, for example, patchy tick, wire tick and rose tick. Other species, such as skin lichen, lung lichen, bark lichen and coral lead lichen, show that there have been rough deciduous trees for a long time.
