Description
Vargberget invites you to adventure and discovery. There are really old forests with ancient pines and gnarled old rowan and aspen trees. The terrain is varied with hills and mountain slopes. Here and there, boulders and rock crevices are visible between the green moss. If you come here in summer or fall, it is easy to fill the berry and mushroom basket.
A path about 500 meters long leads up the mountain. On the heights you can sit down for coffee or lunch. Finish off with a dip in the clear but ice-cold waters of Örtjärn. There is also a shelter with a barbecue area near the shore.

Vargberget is located about 11 kilometers north of Skinnskatteberg, on the border with Dalarna. You get here via road 233 from Skinnskatteberg and over road 68. At Baggbron, turn right at the sign for Viksberg and follow the western and northern shores of Lake Storsjön. After about two kilometers turn left at the sign Nature Reserve Vargberget and go to the turnaround at Örtjärnen. Here is the parking lot.

En fin plats - vyerna från toppen var okej. Det positiva med den här platsen är att man nog får vara själv.

Fint ställe med utsikt, men det saknas ved och vägen upp är hemsk, inte plogad och isig med höga vallar. Slutade med bärgning trots snökedjor...
Aj då, det var tråkigt att höra om bärgningen. Vad det gäller veden så är det ingen garanti på att det finns ved även om det finns en grillplats. Vill man vara säker på att kunna tända en eld är det bästa ett ta med några vedträn själv. MVH, Ulrika/kommunikatör
