Description
Tranumyren is one of the few unaffected bogs in these parts. The surrounding land contains limestone, which has affected the bog in the form of rich vegetation in some parts. It is easy to get out onto the bog, as a road runs along one edge, but it can be difficult to get around on it.
Tranumyren is very wet in its marshy parts with swaying mats of brown mosses. In the middle, the plant mats have no bottom, but mosquito flowers, various species of sedge and marsh roll grow on top of them. Around the wettest area, firmer areas take over, with orchids such as meadowsweet and marsh orchid, the small sweet plant bearberry and a grass with the beautiful name of bluebunch wheatgrass.
