Description
Svärdsjöstigen is Svärdsjö's own "beach walk" that stretches two kilometers along Svärdsjön between Gruvbacken and Höganäsbadet. The trail is graveled and easy to roll with a stroller. There are no big hills here either, apart from a short climb up towards Svärdsjö church. Along the trail there are several picnic areas and also a barbecue area by the water. If you like to swim, you can pack your swimwear as you also pass a small beach.
The northern part of the trail goes through Prostparken, which is a real old-growth forest near the town. In Prostparken, large pine trees grow and there are also some old deciduous trees with plenty of food for woodpeckers and other birds. A small path runs through the park up to the Vasa Stone, which was erected in 1920 as a memorial to Gustav Vasa's hardships.
If you want to extend the walk, you can go via Kyrkbyn. You will then also pass Arvid Backlundgården with collections of art and sculptures. To walk via Kyrkbyn, turn off Svärdsjöstigen at the church. You will then arrive opposite the recycling center where there is a path through the forest that leads down to Svärdsjöstigen again.
You can start your hike both at Gruvbacken and at Höganäsbadet. Choose whether you want to walk back and forth or only in one direction. There are bus stops at both ends.
If you want to walk further, you can continue south from Gruvbacken all the way down to Boda. Then you pass nice water environments and rapids along Borgärdesströmmen. Then the trail turns into the forest and follows forest paths and smaller roads. The last bit to Boda is on the old Kvarnvägen.

Facts
The path is marked with yellow signs with a bird silhouette.
Svärdsjö interest association is responsible for the trail.
Svärdsjöstigen is largely suitable for those in wheelchairs. However, there are a few tricky parts so you need to have a helper with you. The easiest stretch to roll is from Höganäsbadet and up to the bench table below the church.
Parking
