Stormyrbergets naturreservat

The reserve consists of the eastern slope of Stormyrberget and most of Stormyran. A small stream runs below the slope and through Stormyran. The forest on the eastern slope consists of a well-grown spruce forest. There is a lot of dead wood on the ground and many dead, standing trees, known as dry bark. Several old pines grow on the slope. In these you can find traces of a number of fires, known as firebreaks.

Spruce lichen, beard lichen and violet-grey thorn lichen thrive here. The ravine is a refuge for lynx. The mire is home to a rich flora, such as bottlebrush, sedge, knotted sedge, dwarf sedge and wire sedge.

There are also an unusual number of deciduous trees, such as several large willows, rowan trees and aspens. In the northern part of the reserve, the forest consists of thinning forest, young forest and a small coppice. Parts of the area have a good climate for. Hanging lichens. These require high humidity and a forest that is not affected by modern forestry. Among other things, yarn lichen, beard lichen and violet-gray thorn lichen grow luxuriantly here.

The bog is unaffected by drainage, which is otherwise common with most bogs. It consists mainly of an arched bog. There is a species-rich flora with plenty of sedge species; bottle sedge, creeping sedge, knotted sedge, dwarf sedge and wire sedge. You can also find the species bluebell, meadowsweet, bloodroot and hay flower.

Earlier cultural influences are visible in the form of traces of charcoal kilns. There is also the ruin of a charcoal hut in the area.
