Olpers fäbodstig

At Brosveden in Borgärdet, an old road winds its way up through the forest. It is the old shepherd's path to Olpers fäbodar that winds through the landscape.

Olpers belonged to the villages of Sveden and Boränget in Svärdsjö parish, but ceased to be a pasture already in the late 1920s. The path is wide from the start. The supplies that were to be transported to the pasture were first transported by horse-drawn carriage. Where the road narrows and turns into a path, the pack was reloaded and split on horseback instead. The place is called "Kärrsta´n".

The path continues through the forest up the slope of Sälberget and is quite easy with some minor climbs. Some smaller wetlands are passed so boots are recommended. After passing over the road towards Klackstjärnen you come to "Långtrötten" and you soon understand why it is called that. But it won't be long before you arrive at Olpers. There are no rest areas along the trail, but there are still many nice natural places to rest carefully.

Olpers fäbodar is already mentioned in a fäbod inventory in the 1600s. Today, only two cottages remain, one in poor condition. Despite this, the crumbling houses, cellar pits and vegetation may perhaps make you experience something of the time when the fäbod system flourished. A time of full activity with people and animals in Olpers fäbod.

The sheepfold path largely follows the route it has probably had for hundreds of years. Olpers fäbodstig was also used by fäbodkullor and animals from Borgärdet to get to Hinsbergets fäbod, east of Lake Hinsen.
