The building was connected to the narrow gauge railroad from the port of Smedjebacken towards Ludvika.

The locomotive in the engine shed was manufactured in 1914 by Orenstein & Koppel in Berlin, and was used from 1933-1953 at the then Smedjebacken Rolling Mill.
