Ekfännsbergets fäbodar

In 1664, "Eckfällbärget" had three co-owners from Kyrkbyn in Floda. At the time of the 1806-1812 land consolidation, it was one of the parish's smaller mountain farms with seven co-owners, five from Holsåker and two from Kyrkbyn.

There are several old stories about bear hunts in the area around Ekfännsberget. One sad story, whose veracity there is reason to doubt and whose origin must surely be attributed to rivalry, is about three Nåsjägare who were investigating a bear's den. One of them crawled in to see if the bear was still there. His comrades promised to pull him out by the legs as soon as he kicked. But when the brave one was pulled out, he was missing his head, prompting one of the comrades to ask:

• 'Did you see if he had a head when he crawled in?

In the late 1930s, around 35 cows were summer grazing at Ekfännsberget.

Joneses Anna Jonsson-Andersson, born in 1904, had cows in Ekfännsberget until the end of the 1970s. In the last summer of grazing she had four cows and some young animals.

Ekfännsberget has been assessed in a cultural-historical environmental analysis as having a cultural-historical and environmental value. In the inventory of Dalarna's meadows and pastures in 1988-90, the pastures were designated as valuable with reference to long continuity of use and great beauty values.
