Description
Älvdalen Church is the main church of the parish. It is located in the southern part of Älvdalen, on National Road 70. From the mid-15th century, a chapel was mentioned in Älvdalen (Elfdals Capellag). The location and design of the chapel are not known. It may have been within the walls of the current church. When Gustav Vasa collected the bells in 1533, 31 Marks in money and an ungilded chalice were handed over to the bailiff's representative. In contemporary visitation records, the following items of inventory in the church were reported: mass vestments, chalice with paten, antependium, Sacra Biblia in Swedish and a bell.
Next to the church there is a tin box with pilgrim passports and pilgrim stamps for those walking the St Olav Rombo Way pilgrimage trail.
