Kyrkleden Bjursås-Rönnäs (-Åhls kyrka)

Until the 18th century, Kyrkleden was a path that people from the villages around Bjursås walked to get to Åhl's church in Insjön. The trail goes via Rextjärn, Knippgårdarna, Prosgårdarna, Vidåsberget, Årboheden, Per-Hans bodarna and Hackmora to Rönnäs by Insjön. From here it was church boat rowing that was the last bit to the church.

Those who hike Kyrkleden today are offered a beautiful and varied hike in hilly terrain. On Vidåsberget north of Sågmyra you leave Falu municipality and walk into Leksand. The trail runs alternately through forests and open fields around the villages. The surface varies between paths along historic routes, old roads, gravel roads and asphalt through the villages of Årboheden and Rönnäs.

Along the way you will meet several places that tell about life in the past. At the flat stone Kyrkbordet, people used to rest on their way to church, and at Brudkällan you can still cool off with fresh water. You also pass a couple of peaceful mountain huts.

At the starting point at Rextjärnen there is a rest area and parking. In Rönnäs, where the trail ends, there is also a rest area with parking down by the church boathouses.

Anyone who wants to can easily extend the hike another mile and hike all the way to Leksand. Then you follow the asphalt road from Rönnäs to the village of Berg and then follow the markings of Dalkarlsvägen as it turns down towards the river. (The trail is shown as a red line in the Nature Map.)
