Description
The round trip between Kurberget, Alderbacka and Spjärshällen offers a really nice forest walk. You walk between the former shepherd's huts Kurberget and Alderbacka and you also pass Falu municipality's highest point Spjärshällen. At Spjärshällen, 506 meters above sea level, there is a lookout tower with a brilliant view of the surroundings.
You mainly walk on paths. However, some passages are on gravel roads or smaller forest roads. The paths have previously been used by the people who stayed in the pastures. Between Alderbacka and up towards Spjärshällen you walk on Hällvägen, a path that was used when the animals were led out from the pastures for today's grazing. It is Envikens hembygdsförening that has restored and marked all the paths.
At the top of Spjärshällen there is a large shelter where it is also possible to spend the night. And in Kurberget there is a small barn that now serves as a rest house.
North of the mountain you walk a stretch in Spjärshällen's nature reserve, which was formed in 2019. The reserve consists of both moorland and old spruce forest. The Pilgrimsleden and Sommarvägen/Hällvägen trails meet in the reserve. Make sure you choose the right route (towards Kurberget or Spjärshällen) and do not continue north along Pilgrimsleden.
The round trip is quite hilly. If you start from Kurberget, you have a counter slope when you start and a downhill on the way home, no matter which way you choose to go.

Facts
During this tour you will walk on three different trails:
- the trail between Kurberget and Alderbacka. (Marked in the map.)
- from Alderbacka, the Summer Trail (also called Hällvägen) goes over Spjärshällen.
- The pilgrimage trail passes through Kurberget and then continues up towards Hälsingland.
All trails are managed by Envikens hembygdsförening.
The markings consist of orange markings on trees and posts with gray and blue signposts. Between Alderbacka and Spjärshällen, however, the markings on the trees are blue.
Parking
When starting in Kurbergets fäbod: Park the car at the gravel field before the road barrier. The gate closes and locks when no one is in the shed.
Directions
Take RV 50 north through Enviken and turn off towards Grytån in Övertänger. After the last house in Övertänger, turn right and drive almost four kilometers of gravel road towards Kurberget. It can be a bit tricky to find because it is not signposted so a map is good to have.
