The hotel of emigrants
"Hoppet" (hope) is located on the corner of the streets Drottninggatan -
Bergsgatan and has become known through Wilhelm Moberg's novel "Utvandrarna/The
Emigrants".
It was here the
emigrants were accommodated before they went on to America. Opposite
"Hoppet" was Maja's Guest House. Parts of the famous Swedish film "Utvandrarna"
has been made here on Bergsgatan.
