The first lighthouse was built here in 1883 and it was automated in 1919. The site was sold to the farmers on Utlängan, who in turn sold the house and other buildings surrounding the lighthouse to a sea captain named Ekwall. The house became a holiday home for the Ekwall family. Today the property is owned by his son Ulf Ekwall, who has preserved the buildings in their original state through painstaking renovation work.
