One of the landmarks of Sölvesborg is the 756 metre-long Sölvesborg bridge running from the centre of the town out to Ljungaviken. It is one of the longest pedestrian and cycle bridges in Europe, famed for its spectacular design and for incorporating “kissing places” where couples can pause to enjoy the view, and each other. The bridge was completed in 2012 and opened in May 2013. If you don’t go all the way over to Ljungaviken, you can stop off on the island of Kaninholmen. A boardwalk runs round much of the island, which also has several places to sit down for a rest, in the form of benches and picnic benches. There are also two places for barbecues. The boardwalk is on the western side of the island, offering captivating panoramic views out across Sölvesborgsviken and the town, with the evening sun as an extra bonus. If you want to spend the night in beautiful Sölvesborg, we recommend B&B Villa Orion and if you fancy paddling out into the bay, Seasick AB hires out SUPs and kayaks.
