Culture
The bay of Saxemaraviken is home to Saxemara boatyard, founded in 1927. A living piece of cultural heritage, this is the only boatyard of its kind in Blekinge still in use. The boatyard is owned by Blekinge Museum and run by Niklas Nyström who repairs and builds wooden boats. The yard and its jetties are open every day if you want to take a look at some classic boatbuilding, admire the boats or just spend a wonderful day by the sea. Next to the boatyard, there is a permanent exhibition open every day in the summer and at other times of the year by request. Sometimes events are held here such as veteran boat meet-ups, shows and other festivals on the jetties. And there’s a boatyard café too. Source: Blekinge Museum
