Description
In Olsäng, you will find grazed coastal meadows and shallow beaches. The cape Styrsholms udde has some juniper bushes, some birch trees and an old searchlight tower which works well as a hide. West of the cape lies another cape and west of that is Blekinge’s only protected seal sanctuary with about 50 harbour seals. Olsäng is a typical area for nesting birds on Blekinge’s east coast. You might see Arctic terns, little terns, Eurasian oystercatchers and ducks in the coastal meadows. In the migration season, especially in the autumn, it’s well worth a visit if you are keen on birds. If the wind is in the right direction from the east, you might be lucky enough to see skuas, gulls and terns. In the winter, there is often open water with loons and grebes, and other seabirds typical for the time of year. The odd hunting white-tailed sea-eagle might also flash past. Near to Olsäng is Stålemara Gård Bed N Box where you can spend the night and stable your horse. Source: Karlskrona Ornithology Club
