Description
The Citadel is sited on the little island of Frisholmen in the centre of the entrance to the harbour. The fortress started to be built as a provisional solution once the fortifications on Boön had been ordered to be abandoned. The Citadel was taken into operation in 1675 and was part of Sweden’s defences until 1865.
