Description

The photographic studio museum displays the equipment used by Oscar Ekholm. Everything is preserved as it was in Ekholm’s day, including cameras and darkroom equipment. A backdrop showing the interior of a manor house decorates one wall. The large studio camera from the 1930s is one of the rare pieces owned by the museum. Visits by appointment. Brief history Oscar Ekholm was born in Kallinge in 1901. He developed an interest in photography as a child. In 1920 he was taken on as an apprentice by Ateljé Carlie in Ronneby. When the studio changed owner a few years later, he started running his own business. At home in his living room, he took photographs for passports and driving licences. He then developed his business and the studio on N. Smålandsgatan was built in 1929. Oscar did all his photography and took studio photographs there. For several years he also worked on photographs for press and advertising purposes. Oscar Ekholm was an active photographer until his death in 1982.
