Description
In the strait between Senoren and Bussevik, at the height of Dränganabben, is Blekinge's best preserved pile barrier. At the beginning of the Middle Ages, it blocked off the strait and prevented ships from sailing into the large burial ground, Stora Backe, which is located at the far end of Hallarumsviken. Perhaps it was to protect themselves against pirates that they built the barrage. The barrier consists of tens of thousands of oak and beech piles that are very close together, sometimes only a few centimetres apart.
