Description
“Åsarna”, the ridges on the southern shore of Aspö were where the islanders of the past lit false fires to lure ships to run aground. The sailors who did not drown were beaten to death and buried in what at the time were bare sand dunes but are now dotted with pine trees. Then the ship was emptied.
During storms, the buried sailors were said to haunt the area and anyone who encountered one of these ghosts would feel the after-effects for the rest of their lives.
