Description

Within cycling distance of Enköping is Haga oak hills, which offer lake views and walks. Here, coarse oaks and hazel groves grow on land that in the spring is covered with flowers, and in the fall by both common and unusual mushrooms.

In the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, the peasants' oaks were felled for shipbuilding. But the oak forests of the nobility were left alone. Thanks to the fact that Haga Oak Hills were owned by nearby Haga Castle for a long time, today you can walk through one of the region's largest continuous areas of oak trees.

The reserve consists of two parts, Stora ekbacken and the smaller Svanvik area. At Svanvik there are wooded pastures while Stora Ekbacken is more varied with both bare rocks and lush groves.

You can visit Haga Ekbackar for a walk at any time of year. Enjoy the oaks and remember that you are in a reserve, where special rules apply. For example, you cannot pick flowers here, but you can pick berries and mushrooms. Read more by clicking on the link to the regulations.

Haga Oak Hills is located south of Enköping.

From Enköping you drive road 55 towards Strängnäs. After 5 km, turn left where there are signs for P nature reserve. After a few hundred meters you are there.

In the reserve it is forbidden to:

dig, hoe or otherwise damage the soil surface, break twigs, fell or otherwise damage living or dead trees and shrubs,
dig up or pick flowers, grasses, mosses, fungi, lichens or in any other way remove or damage plants or plant parts of any kind, with the exception of picking edible mushrooms, fruits and berries
capture, kill or abduct animals, remove eggs, eggs or nests or otherwise deliberately disturb wildlife
make a fire, except in a designated place
bring dogs or other pets that are not leashed
drive a motorized vehicle other than on the road and in a designated parking space
