Description

At the end of the village of Laisholm, a road turns down to Gammställnäset. At the far end of the isthmus, a 120 m long settlement from the Stone Age has been investigated. In total, about 150 finds have been recovered. The most remarkable finds are the asbestos pottery sherds that have been fitted together into a vessel. The Laisan pot has been dated to around 1,000 BC and is thus one of the oldest known asbestos vessels. Extensive production of arrowheads took place at the site. Many arrowhead preparations and quartz rejects have been found and can still be found in the sand. Several objects from later times have also been found here. A fire-starting stone and an animal head-shaped bronze fitting are dated to the Iron Age in the 7th century AD.
