Actions
Description
From the Sörmlandsleden hiking trail take a short detour to the Pålamalm Nature Reserve! Here you'll find the largest esker kettle hole in Stockholm County, plunging 31 metres deep. Standing at the bottom of this dramatic depression is an impressive experience.
The vegetation in the reserve reflects the varying moisture levels in the soil. At the bottom of the kettle hole, where the ground is damper, you'll find mosses such as Ostrich-plume feathermoss and Glittering woodmoss, along with European blueberry, all thriving beneath Norway spruce. On the drier, higher ground, Scots pine dominates, accompanied by lingonberry, heather, bearberry and reindeer lichen.
