Description
Until 1645, Knäred was a border village between Sweden and Denmark. In 1613, the town became widely known through the peace that ended the Kalmar War. The peace negotiations were held in Sjöared near the Småland border, and there now stands a memorial stone, erected in 1925 by Halland Museum. For the young Gustav II Adolf, it was a hard peace.
