Description
The reserve is an island in Siljan north of Siljansnäslandet, covered in pine forest. In summer, Vaverön is a popular destination for boating and in winter the occasional skater or skier comes by. The island is just over 300 meters from the mainland and you can get across with rowing boats that are available for loan. The island is mainly pine forest and a path leads around the entire island.
With its sheltered south side, the island has been used by man for a long time. There are remains dating back to the Iron Age. The beaches are rocky, but on the south side of the island there is a well-protected guest harbor and bathing area. There are cabins for rent (contact Leksand municipality, 0247-80000) and both a hut and a fireplace hut that are always open.
