Description
Old blueberry spruce forest grows in the nature reserve. Many spruces are completely draped with hanging lichens and traces of the three-toed woodpecker's foraging are visible in several places.
The nature reserve has no visitor facilities or marked trails. Despite this, large parts of the area are easy to hike. Start your walk with a visit to the birches and aspens at the end of the road. On the other side of the road are the remains of some log cabins. Work in the forest was an important part of the livelihood and was often done far from home.
Continue north to the winding Streikbäcken stream. In summer, the stream is surrounded by tall herbs such as wolfsbane, hops and torta. The sedge marshes played an important role in earlier times. Together with the occasionally flooded land (raningana) along the stream, it was mown for winter fodder for farm animals.
Take a coffee break by the edge of the bog, accompanied by the babbling brook and birdsong, before turning back towards the road. Take a walk through the spruce forest on the slope. During most of the summer, the yellow flowers of the creeping spruce illuminate the dark forest in moist drops; during the rest of the snow-free season, the evergreen leaves of the creeping spruce are visible.
