Description

Övre Gruvriset is one of Falun's oldest built-up areas with small, older farms and a small-scale agricultural landscape with open grazed pastures, cairns and stone fences. At the top of Övre Gruvriset, where the forest takes over, you have a fantastic view of Gruvriset and Lake Runn with all its islands. The view extends further than that, in clear, beautiful weather you can, for example, see the wind turbines on Kaptensberget beyond Hofors.

If you make your way here, take the opportunity to discover the forest on Gruvrisberget. There is a rich trail system and remains from older days, such as old lime trees (meadows), a cold spring and pond. One of the paths was probably used to travel between Falun and Torsång further back in time. In some places it has been reinforced with stones. Can you find it?

Activities And Facilities

There is no parking lot at the viewpoint - you have to walk via Övre Gruvrisbacken, Dikarbacken or Krondiket.

Go to Övre Gruvriset via Tunavägen and Pilbovägen. Turn off and follow Övre Gruvrisvägen west. There is no parking at the viewpoint so try to park your car in a suitable place along Övre Gruvrisvägen and walk up Övre Gruvrisbacken. Keep left at the top crossroads and continue on the path straight ahead when the road makes a sharp 90-degree turn. You are almost there, turn around and look at the view!

It is also possible to reach the site by walking via paths from Dikarbacken and Krondiket.
