Grävenberget

Grävenberget is mentioned in writing in 1702. It is in a settlement between the inhabitants of northern and southern Mockfjärd regarding a new pasture site that the inhabitants of northern Mockfjärd "shall have enclosed southern Mockfjärd's Bolby". The settlement meant that those who had fenced in the new pasture site would move their pastures one mile away from the dispute site, next to a mountain called Gräfningsberget.

At the time of the 1811-1817 land transfer, Grävenberget had 21 co-owners, most of them from Nordanholen, Färmsnäs, Högberget and Borgsheden.

In 1933 it was recorded that only one owner used the pasture as summer grazing for his three cows. In the 1940s, there were five herds of 25-30 cows here.

Mant Lina (1894-1985) has told us that as a 13-year-old she looked after both her own family's and other people's cows in Grävenberget. For this she received one krona per cow.

Mann Pers Albert (1900-1980) from Högberget was the last herdsman. In the summer of 1972 or possibly 1973, he had four or five cows, eight or ten sheep and five or six goats in Grävenberget.

In a cultural-historical environmental analysis, Grävenberget's mountain pastures have been described as an area of cultural-historical and environmental value.
