Description
Saltsjöbaden Cemetery with Skogsö Chapel is located on a wooded hill facing Baggensstäket. The chapel, belfry and cemetery were designed by Erik Bülow Hübe, a leading figure in Swedish garden architecture, and were inaugurated in 1921. A large gravestone with a sculpted head stands as a memorial to the artist Karl Gerhard. The cemetery contains the remains of a small defense facility built shortly after the battle against the Russians in 1719.
