Actions

Description

Klintabäckens nature reserve consists of three areas. Here you will find a circular trail of about 2.5 km and an exercise trail of about 7.5 km. Walk between beech and other deciduous trees such as oak, lime and maple. Klintabäcken's clean water is rich in oxygen and free of pollutants, so it is home to the unusual dragonflies Capnia bifrons and Capnopsis schilleri.

Slopes with old beech forest

The hilly forest with its many boulders has been difficult to cultivate, so it has mostly been used as pasture by the farmers of Västra Vram. But there are traces of the people who lived here already during the Iron Age. Since at least the 18th century, beech forests have covered the slopes. But there are not only beech trees here, but also other deciduous trees such as oak, lime and maple.

Some of the trees are getting really old and this is when they start to become interesting for many of the forest's endangered small inhabitants, such as the unusual beetle red-eyed flicker.

Mosses and lichens in the stream valley

Mosses and lichens thrive in the moist, cool air of the stream valley. Lichens are often small and inconspicuous, but on some of the old trees grows a really magnificent lichen, the lung lichen, large and shimmering green.

Swamp forest with woodpeckers

In the north, where the forest slopes turn into a more flat agricultural landscape, people used to harvest their hay. Today, a swamp forest of ash and alder grows here - a favorite haunt for the lesser spotted woodpecker, which can peck its nest hole in the soft alder wood and look for insects in decaying trees.

Klintabäcken stream

The clean waters of Klintabäck stream ripple gently or rush quickly, depending on the season and the amount of water. The water is rich in oxygen and free of pollutants - it is home to the unusual dragonflies Capnia bifrons and Capnopsis schilleri.

Outdoor life

Klintabäckens nature reserve consists of three sub-areas. Parking and facilities for outdoor activities are located in the northernmost sub-area, closest to Västra Vram and Tollarp. Here there is a small circular loop (white-red) of just over 2.5 km that starts from the parking lot. At the same time, 1 km of the 7.5 km long exercise trail from Stackedala recreation area runs through the reserve (orange). There is a rest area with barbecue facilities at Klintabäcken where these two trails pass. Remember to bring charcoal if you are going to barbecue and to take your rubbish home. In the field, you can cycle and ride on the exercise trail (orange) and on the way to the parking lot.
