Starting
from the beautiful Lidhult farm, we’ll take an approximately 12-km fall hike
around Lake Ringsjön. We’ll begin on a section of the Östgötaleden trail, following village roads and forest trails
and continue along the village road through the old, rolling agricultural landscape with sweeping
views. Along the way, we’ll pass farms and houses that have stood here for a long time—some
still inhabited, others not. Eventually, we’ll arrive at the cultural reserve
Smedstorp’s double farmstead. It is managed by the Östergötland Museum but is still
inhabited. Here we’ll stop for a snack and hear a bit more about this remarkable 18th-century
farmstead. After that, it’s not far back to Lidhult. The hike
is moderately difficult, covering forest trails, village roads, a couple of steeper uphill sections, and a short
stretch through unmarked forest. Bring a packed lunch for 2–3 breaks. As always: dress
for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water.
Meet at the Vidingsjö Fitness Center at 9:45 a.m. for a carpool to the starting point.
Register at stf.linkoping@la.stfturist.se by September 30. The activity costs
70 SEK (40 SEK for STF members).
