Description
Örnäsudden is known for the Battle of Nissan, one of the biggest sea battles of the Viking Age. The battle was fought on August 10, 1062 between Norway's King Harald Hårdråde and Denmark's King Sven Estridesen. The Danish fleet of 300 sailing ships was defeated by the Norwegian fleet, which was barely half as large. The King of Denmark is said to have been on board and disembarked after the defeat on the beach here.
