Description
Stråsjöbäcken, or Vålsjöbäcken as it is also known, plunges 48 meters down the mountainside in Vålsjö. This is Hälsingland's highest waterfall, which has been used for many different water-powered works over the years. In the 1799 census, the map shows six different plants called "Såg och squaltekvarnar".
The mill is built in three floors. Grain was taken in at the top. There are grain elevators and outlets for various grinding operations. The middle floor contains the millstones, a crusher for oats and a slicing machine. On the ground floor are the outlets from the mill above. All the machinery is preserved and the mill would be fully operational if the turbine could be reinstalled.
Facts from the County Administrative Board's website, follow link for more information about the mill.
