Öppettider

Långbron's lock is number 15 in the order and leads from the lake Långbrohöljen to Laxsjön in the Dalsland Canal.

The difference in level in Långbron's lock is 0.3 m. At the southern waiting bridge there is a mast crane. North of the lock there is both a road and a railway bridge (bascule bridges) that cross the fairway. The lock guard has difficulty seeing boats coming from the north (from Laxsjön) because of these bridges. Moor at the waiting bridge at the railway bridge and contact the lock keeper.

Lock café

When the lock is open, the small lock café is also open. Here you can buy the big canal ice cream, waffles or a cup of coffee and enjoy while watching the boats passing by. A nice place to visit close to the village with a swimming area, marina, shops and attractions.

In Långbron there is an old laundry room that, thanks to furniture designer and Steneby student Josha Woudstra, has been transformed into a somewhat unique museum.

A little history

As the name suggests, it's all about a bridge. This one leads over the Upperudsälven and is a stone arch bridge built in 1838. Today it is probably most correct to call Långbron a part of Dals Långed. The northernmost part of the rather elongated town.

Only three decimeters difference in level makes the lock one of the lowest in the canal system. It carries boat traffic between Långbrohöljen and Laxsjön.

Just over three kilometers north of Långbron is Baldersnäs. A magnificent manor house dating back to the 18th century. One of the canal's foremost advocates, Carl Fredrik Waern, lived here. During his time, a fantastic English park was created with lots of tree species, several gazebos, artificial caves and islands. Today the park is a nature reserve.
