Svarthavet, Naturreservat
- Nature reserve
- County: Värmlands län
Actions
Description
This is a coniferous forest with a variety of exciting environments and species. A circular trail takes you past cliffs, down to both pond and lake, through forest where you can see traces of former coal mining and up to a hill with fine views.
The reserve is a small, hilly and highly-dominated forest area, with valleys running in a north-easterly/south-westerly direction. In between, smaller, mostly pine-covered rocky knolls stand out. The valleys contain streams, wetlands and swamp forests.
The reserve has been established with the aim of protecting the area's coniferous natural forest and its swamp forests, herb-rich stream valleys and species-rich mountain slopes. The aim is also to preserve the diversity of species found in the area and to meet the need for areas for outdoor recreation.
Animals and plants
Within the reserve, 16 threatened species and 52 species signaling high natural values have been found. One of the threatened species is the three-toed woodpecker. Many of the species can be found on dead trees, slopes, wetlands and cliffs. In parts of the area, there are basic minerals in the bedrock that support several rare species. The breadfruit mushroom is a threatened species, but it is present in the reserve. There are also other unusual mushrooms in the area, but also a lot of common edible mushrooms and you are welcome to pick them.
