Description

With a bit of luck, you can see the black grouse and hear the heath plover and curlew nesting here.

The Kackerudsmossen nature reserve was established to preserve a valuable natural environment in the form of a typical example of a raised bog with the biodiversity associated with raised bogs.

The area is part of the EU's ecological network of protected areas, Natura 2000.

Animals and plants

In the bog enclosures (water bodies between the tussocks), the dominant species are sedges, cold grass, woolly white moss, floating white moss and rufous white moss. The characteristic species rusty white moss, ruby white moss, heather, rosling, tufa wool and tufa reed grow on the tussocks.

At Kackerudsmossen, which is surrounded by coniferous forest, there are nesting plovers and curlews. Kackerudsmossen is a place for black grouse, which is interesting for birdwatchers.
