Description

The reserve consists of the island itself and a strip of coastal forest on the mainland. The island has fine, inviting cliffs where it is easy to go ashore and take a dip or enjoy your packed lunch. In the fall, it is perhaps the mushrooms that attract. However, the reserve has much to show beyond the bathing rocks, so set off on a voyage of discovery! The forest has been allowed to develop freely into a natural forest, what we usually call primeval forest. The image of a primeval forest is a moss-covered dense forest, full of life and with a magical atmosphere. You can find all this here despite its location close to urban areas.

From the residential area Uttran near Tumba you can cross the lake by canoe or boat. See the map.

To protect the natural and cultural values of the Mälarskogen nature reserve, special regulations apply. Among other things, it is forbidden to damage the land, plants, trees or wildlife, to light fires outside designated areas and to keep dogs off leads.

Certain activities, such as prolonged camping, major events or the erection of signs, require municipal permission. If you are planning an activity that contravenes the regulations, you need to apply for a permit or exemption in advance.
