Description

A nice full day trip around Lill- and Stor-Ryvålen is done by first following the path that goes down towards Valmen. The path splits on a couple of occasions and you then keep to the right all the time. After about 7 km you reach the wind shelter that is right next to one of the small lakes on Stor-Ryvålen. From there you continue in the direction of the mountain until you reach the path that leads either back to Nyvallen (3.5 km) or to Nysätern. The first part of the trail runs mostly through tall and beautiful old forest. The path sometimes also goes over lean and dry pine heaths. In some of the wetter hollows, maidenhair ferns grow and spider flowers can be seen here and there in the spruce forest. Up on Stor-Ryvålen you have a fantastic view of the northeastern side of the Sonfjällsmassiv. Before you reach the windbreak, you pass a few small lakes. The path back to Nyvallen follows the mountain edge through the mountain birch forest. Tall buttercups and wood fairies compete with the torta to be the most visible in the lush greenery of the mountain birch forest.
